Post by: Elementary on June 18, 2002, 03:43:00 PM
I am looking at an aroma companys chemical list and they have alcohol with the following coding :

ALCOHOL C10
ALCOHOL C12
ALCOHOL C6
ALCOHOL C8
ALCOHOL C9

What the hell do these "C" numbers represent ?

Title: carbon numbers?

maybe the number of carbon atoms. C6 could be hexanol, C10 may be decanol. Just my guess, because such alcohols are required for esterification of aliphatic acids (fruity smell).
