Was searching a procedure to make indene (for IAP synth)...damn naïve one:)

The compound you actually want is indane, and not indene. I suggest you make phenylpropanoic acid (friedel-craft alkylation with 3-chloropropionic ester followed by hydrolysis, or make the cinnamic acid and reduce it), convert it to the acid chloride and cyclize to 1-indanone via friedel-craft acylation, and finally reduce the ketone with Zn/Hg or Hydrazine/KOH.

Actually I was looking for synth of indene,which i was going to convert to indane,anyway thank you,i`ll read that.

Indene is a very cheap unwatched industrial chemical, you should be able to find it if you look around.

It may be that industry of my beloved country doesnt produce such compound,but who knows,if you could tell me what it is used for? ::)
