hi,

i did the sythsis

right but now i have a problem... with the addition of Dichlormethan 3 layers were formed, which is now the correct??? i mean which of this 3 layer would be saturated with dry HCl Gas???

I've never done this synth before  but after reading the link i would say you gas the dcm, but you say three layers still, has all the ether been evapped off completly. Whatever you do don't throw anything out yet. Have you already tried gassing, if so and gas is dry you should see crystals falling in dcm. Don't quote me, but i think dcm could be your bottom layer, i'm not 100% on that one. If you have'nt gassed yet i would try and work out why you have 3 layers, maybe ether is still present. Is your ph at 10? Where were you getting reading from?
