Hello bees,
Another crazy idea. Swim has been reading about iodine purification by sublimation, and is wondering if the following idea would work:
1. Place iodine and DH20 in flask.
2. Connect tubing to top of flask.
3. Run tubing into large container of iced water.
4. Heat flask to boiling.
Here is the theory:
Iodine is not very soluble in water. If you boil the water/iodine mixture, the iodine will hopefully sublime. The steam generated by the boiling water should carry the sublimed iodine through the tube and into the cold water, where it will condense and fall to the bottom.
What do you think? Should work, and is easier to set up than a cold finger.
