Title: convert nitrobenzene to phenol in one step?
Post by: xxxxx on June 16, 2004, 12:20:00 AM
if a person had a nitrobenzene derivitive such as 3,5 dinitro benzoic acid, for example, is there a one step process to convert the nitro groups to hydroxyl groups? or even better to methoxy groups?
Title: Yes

You can do it in one pot. Some time ago I made a trial with a pseudo one pot synth
