LSA to LSD ?
« on: February 14, 2002, 04:00:00 AM »
Ok, i was looking around and found this rxn for LSD. But in a message above the writeup it says tha 10gm of amide from ergot was used. Is it possible to use the amide from morning glory seeds insted?

Dissolve 10 g lysergic acid amide in 200 ml methanolic
potassium hydroxide solution.

Remove the methanol by vacuum as soon as the amide is
dissolved.

Dissolve the residue which is left into 200 ml of an 8%
solution of potassium hydroxide in water.

Heat this mixture on a steam bath for 1 hour.

Pass a steam of nitrogen gas through the flask during the
heating process. (The ammonia which is evolved in the gas
stream may be titrated with hydrochloric acid in order to
follow the reaction.)

Neutralize the mixture with tartaric acid (neutral to congo
red) and run it through a filter paper.

Extract the mixture with ether in a separatory funnel. Save
the water layer, discard the ether layer.

Filter the solution through a filter paper and evaporate.

Upon evaporation, dry crystals of lysergic acid will be
obtained.
:)

The procedure that you posted is not for preparing LSD, it is for preparing lysergic acid.

amalgum, I'm not into this field of research but thet link looks promising, at least to my limited knowledge.

Chemically enhanced.

some things on there are good, like the diethylamine synth. The lsa-->lsd route is archaic.
