can piperidine be cleaved into something like:

5-amino-pentan-1-ol

or
5-bromo-pentyl-1-amine
or
5-bromovaleric acid

or anything else looking like:   A - (CH2)5 - B

aim is to get somhow to:

1,5-pentanediol

and finally to:

1,5-dibromopentane

Dunno the answer to your question but why not just buy 1,5-pentanediol? Seems like its pretty cheap, $60 a kilo or so.
