Title: Benzylcyanide
Post by: roger2003 on August 16, 2003, 05:42:00 AM
Benzylcyanide was prepared in the vapour phase (430 – 450° C) from benzylamine and formic acid (or an ester) over silica gel. Yield about 42%
Unreactet benzylamine is recovered for the next run.

I'd classify any reaction running at 400°C+ as very impractical, especially one involving cyanides.
