Method of reducing halogenated hydrocarbons with ferrous hydroxide.
For instance, starting from CCl4, one can pass to chloroform or to methylene chloride, and so on according to the quantity of ferrous hydroxide employed.
Other bases can also be used such as alkaline or alkaline-earth bases.
