Can Ethanol be substituted for methanol or DMF in the Wacker oxidation, with no other alterations in chemicals or procedure? Thanks a bunch
-
Ethanol has been used successfully in O2 Wacker oxidations.
-
But with pressure right ?
-
Why would pressure be required? Ethanol boils at a higher temperature than methanol, is there something I'm missing here?
-
There are two different O2 wackers. One uses pressurized O2.

Sunlight: Yes medium pressure was used- 50 to 100 psi. Reactor was initially charged to 100psi and recharged after it dropped to 50psi.
