When one is nearly finished with the standard MM Al/Hg and the goods are in the toluene which has been dried, is it better to chill the solution before starting to gas, or after crystals have already formed from gassing at room temperature?
Crystals can form in toluene at room temperature, but the results will be better when the solution is cold. I have read about 'seed' crystals, but don't know very much. So might it be advantageous to only perform part of the gassing one normally might and then chill the toluene solution?
Thanks
