Bad boy here!

Swim is always looking for new ways to reducing the risk factor.Especially when it comes to evaporating large amounts of MeOh.Something about spending that much time on or around the property makes him feel like a sitting duck.So just recently he began exploring some alternative DC power sources and came up with this little darling...

http://www.compactappliance.net/compactappliance/06920.html

Swim took it one step further by carrying a fully charged 12 volt battery out into the sticks and wired it up directly. All that can be said is a large amount of MeOh was then evaporated just over a two hour period with alot of charge still left in the battery. This is defintely going to reduce swim's stress factor....

How hot can the fucker get. Maybe it could have more use than just evaporating ;)

Realize this..

The faster you evaporate especially using a battery and hoping no sparks generate, the more vapors there are in the air at that given time.

Wouldn't you rather like distilling it using a hot plate and reusing your methanol at atmospheric pressure?
Takes about the same time.

To answer your question DrBumpz,it was designed to pop popcorn while traveling down the road.So thats pretty damn hot. This is by far the best thing swim has come across in a long time.It pulls so little current for the amount of heat it puts out. Also, rudebwoy,in reference to your comment about reusing the MeOh..........Sorry but it just isn't that expensive yet.

Rhodium- If you ever get to the totalitarian utopia that is the  US watch some of the infomercials...you will see that the answer is a resounding 'yes'-- on second thought, don't, they rot your brain worse than any chemical...

The whole concept was to get away from the back-forty where swim did not feel safe at times when evapping large amounts of MeOh and get some where like deep in the woods surrounded by stickers and briars and hopefully a running creek right through the middle of it in case swim needs to go for a swim with his pot-popper.Seriously now it comes with a 10' cord plus the extension that was added to the battery,so that is roughly 12' between the battery and the pot-popper.Could be wrong but swim sees little chance of an ignition source with that much distance in between.

a friend of mine jobbed at a call center for those tv-shopping
channels. apparently they made most of their business with drunk
or sleepy people that call at 4 in the morning. and yes, seems
like you can sell everything. even in europe.
