Marquis spot test

Swim tested some off-white street powder with the Marquis reagent (mixture of sulphuric acid and formaldehyde) and noticed the following colors: a strong yellow with some hints of dark purple. The purple could be MDMA but what can cause the yellow color ? It is definately not amphetamine because this develops into brown via orange according to swims own experience....

purple represents some opium derivatives, a brown-orange colour colour is attributed to amphetamines , perhaps the yellow indicates a lower ammount of amphetamines??
