For simplicity sake, would adding a small bottle of iodine tincture as the catalyst in this reaction harm anything?
The ingregients are of course 5% iodine, 5% KI, IPA, H2O.
Whould the KI affect the reaction?
Is it important to convert the KI or purify the I2 for this reaction?

Thanks for the help!
"A small bottle" is not a good unit.
Use 10-15 mL of this tincture for each gram of iodine the procedure calls for and report your results. I cannot guarantee anything, but if there are really no other additives in the tincture, I believe it could work as a decent substitute if you are too lazy to extract the iodine properly first.

(Bond_DoubleBond: "Big Breakthrough for Benzo Bees", Methods Discourse)its excellent. do it word for word, except vigorous boil it for a little longer, kinda like 5-7 minutes
ive read of bees just using straight tincture and it worked ok from what i recall
Works just the same as I2, can't tell the difference in the product. Same yields. Thanks for the replies.
EDIT: The procedure I followed was Bond_Doublebond's.
