Did some reseach on this a few years ago, and a lexicon said that ammonium acetate was used when coloring textiles (or what the hell you call it). Bixit, wasn't you the one that read swedish ?. Well, the lexicon said: "används som betmedel vid textilfärgning". I dont know the exactly translation for this in english...
OTC sources:
Make it yourself from household ammonia and acetic acid (vinegar). Its probably one of the easiest chemicals to make at home since it is a simple acid/base salt production reaction.

Searching google, I found this and it may be of use to bee's looking for an excuse to order Ammonium Acetate in the event they are too lazy to make it.
