Title: Natriumnitrate to Natriumnitrite

When NaNO3 is heated it releases one oxygen so that NaNO2 forms, at which temprature is this supposed to happen?

Is KNO3(g)helthy to breath in? ::)

Decomposition temperature > 380'C

But decomposition products include oxides of Sodium and Nitrogen

And also very nasty toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. Do not breath the fumes, and use good ventilation!

What should the yield be? And NaO will react with water right? How? Dangerous?
