ive been looking into doing a birch in somthing other
than nh3
I have found some info on a reaction called the Benkeser
Reduction and it has led me to belive that it might
be possible to do a luckart on acetone and then use the
resulting propyl-2-amine as your solvent
has anyone got any ideas on this or experiance
thanx
anyone care to reply? it seems like it would warrant at least some debate.. but then again.. i could be wrong.
Making propyl-2-amine from acetone is easy and feasible. Purification of the propyl-2-amine freebase via distillation and then drying the freebase to remove water is critical for the birch success.
