Can somebee help me w/the following questions. PLEASE!:

1) How sensitive are KI aq. solutions to oxidation? Namely, will it get oxidized w/air at ~100 C?

2) SWIM is planning to acquire KI by mixing equimolar KOH and NH4I and evaporating water away in waterbath under draught. Do you see any potential pitfalls here (other than air oxidation)?

Thanx in advance,

Hey, that's how one gets his posts rated as 'insignificant' or yet worse, 'offending' - LOL, your new signature is fuckin' hilarious!

It was a rather astounding xperience to open a Hive page and see plain Russian language in it :o  Thanx!

Chemikaze: It is generally not allowed to use other languages than english in the forums, keep russian (and other incomprehensible languages) in PM's, as noone but the intended reciever understands them out here anyway.

Well, looks like it works OK. The crystals were white and the yield was exactly as xpected, so i guess one can obtain KI from NH4I in this way.

Thanx for input everyone :)  ;D  ;)  :-[
