There is a question that I would very much that someone could answer: Has anyone here in their dreams really succeded to get PPA from BA and L-alanine?

...or is this possibility only something that some guy who is dead since 75 years have succeded with in a 100 year old book.

I suggest you to find a better method (BA + nitromethane).
Alanine is VERY expensive,and it wouldn`t be very thrifty,to say the least, to do it this way,would it?

IIRC psychokitty posted a method of synth-ing alcohols from BA and nitro...IIRC

Nitromethane produces a chain that is one carbon short of the desired length. You need nitroethane, which is illegal to own or purchase, and therefore must also be manufactured, at least if you are a USA bee.

That is a very convenient process, I see no reason why alanine can't be used in place of glycine.

How much could it cost? I guess about 50$/100g. The value of shit coming out in the end of the proces is alot more worth I can tell you.

Alanine is available for US$20/kilo and can be shipped anywhere in the world as a sports -related commercial supplement.

Nitroethane is also available to the common man from one or two sources (in the states, at least).  Seek and you'll find...
