I used the search function to see about subsitutes for Pallidum chloride, got 2 threads with very little info, I'm curious if you can use another metal halide or if theres something specific about palladium that makes subsitution impossible, I'm not looking for a shortcut, just another option in the future

ahh, sorry for the lack of information, I am thinking of a general wacker RXN, not worried about the cost of PDCL2 but it sure would be nice to find something else that works too

Some platinum compounds (I think the chloride) form complexes with olefins similar to palladium.
