yes, this is my first post and i used tfse.

I have many extraction guidances found. however, they are all related to pseudoephedrin.

now my question:

1. can i apply these guidances exactly the same to 
   ephedrin ?

2. is it meaningfull to win the ephedrin by steam
   extraction or is this usually only with the plant
   material?

i read the ephedrin compilation. there are many extraction guidances (the cure by placebo, waterless A/B, the full turbs cure, straight to bee, straight to e, E-Gull, IDEA...)
those writes always refer "pseudo" ehedrin.

my simple question is: do they work also with ephedrin hcl?

l-ephedrin and d-pseudoephedrin will give the same product on reductive removal of the hydroxy group:
dextrorotary methamphetamine.
The pseudo or not pseudo refers to the relative positions of the hydroxy and the methylamino group to each other.
As the hydroxy group gets removed in the course of reduction only the configuration of the methylamino group is of interest - and this is (S) in natural ephedrine or pseudoephedrine.

ah- forgot:
The solubilities and the extraction techniques for ephedrine and pseudoephedrine should closely resemble each other.
That is: water soluble salts (HCl-salt for instant)in both cases.

I think you should focus on the other stuff in the pills.  That's what extraction excludes.  Yea, psuedo and e should interchange, just look at solubilities.

His pills dosent seem to be very gaked, they arent US pills, and there isnt any "methcook-problem" here since no ephedrine or psuedo is sold OTC anyway.

He tried the streamlined version of placebo's "the cure",
and his tolly was clean and also his tone. So he figured the e.hcl should be clean as well.

Altho' he learned that epherdine is sligthly less soluble in IPA, or any other alcs than psuedo. So he boiled the IPA while stirring and filtered it while still quite hot.


Well thats my two cents anyway...
