Does Procaine, Lidocaine mixed with mannitol, lactose look like cocaine hcl?

Our regular trustworthy dealer is out of commission for awhile. Don't know about this guy.


I guess we will know if we freebase the powder. Does procaine, lidocaine etc... form a "rock" as well, or do they remain on the cooking spoon as impurities?

Pharmaceutical grade lidocaine and mannitol most of the time are white crystalline powders. Procaine is more plate like (and hygroscopic). Mannitol and lactose are insoluble in ether, whereas lidocaine is insoluble in water. Procaine will dissolve in both. I know there is a spot test which can easily identify lidocaine and procaine when pure. They give a different colour reaction. If I remeMber well it is the Ruybal test but I´m not 100% sure about this. And the smell of illicit cocaine is absolutely different from the mixture you mentioned.

The test is Ehrlich. And it is not procaine but benzocaine which one can differentiate from lidocaine. A yellow or orange precipitate is formed....
