What's a good water pump to use for distillations and reflux?

Just about anyone will work. But buy onethat is sumbmersible. so you can just throw it in a bucket and leave it there.

How's one like this?

Heh, well depending on the application your using it for, one that size should be suitable for a large variety of different rxns...

for water features/fountains - providing you arn't making 10k's

as long as you can replenish your coolant - a small pump will do fine for the home chef

Go to a hydroponics store,so long as it pumps a  gallon  a minute it will work...garden store for a fountain/fish pond pump....aquarium store etc $25.

Swim bought one off ebay years ago and it's a little cube maybe 2 inches by 3 inches in size (at most) and it just goes in a bucket which is filled with cold water and often with those blue gel plastic frozen thingys that are often used for picnic coolers.  You just change the frozen gel packs when they melt and replace it with a fresh one that you get from your freezer.
  It's a lot less hassle than ice.
  You genrally don't really need a pump with high flow for most things so you can almost always get by with the small little submersible pumps that seem to last forever.  They are very cheap.
  A few time's SWIM has noticed that the pump was turning but no water was being circulated.  On these ocassions (twice over the last 3 or so years) it was disassembled (very easy) and it was found that the little vane (propellor)had separated from the plastic shaft.  A little silicone glue fixed it no problem.
  Best way to go in SWIM's opinion.
