some guy I met in a bar the other night mentioned that he had been trying a routine TT with some new 30mg pills, although with a higher pill mass than usually attempted, and using naptha instead of toluene. something like 6 96x30 boxes used.

as soon as the naptha was decanted, it began to cloud and gel as it cooled - any ideas on what this is?

he had put the resulting mess in the freezer, but is assuming that he will end up with a beaker full of frozen gelled mess. Will it turn out fine? can anything be done to recover?

its probably the crap that the naphtha pulled from the shit. I'm assuming the pill mass was washed with the naphtha and not based with the naphtha as a solvent. What exactly is a TT?

TT as in Tetra Trap - pill mass was covered with equal mass sodium carbonate, few tablespoons H2O, and Naptha, then heated almost to boiling point while stirring constantly and held there for about five minutes. whole mess allowed to settle for ten minutes and then decanted, resulting in the icky gooey mess

oops - forgot to mention that the pill mass and sodium carbonate were throuroughly mixed and then saturated with TCE. little tired.

sounds like you pulled sodium carbonate, this happens from addition of too  much water.
