Read This: Changing Hosts + HTTPS (Finallly)
« on: June 23, 2010, 08:44:23 PM »
The site has moved hosts, the forum is up and running as it should be, has a new theme (out of necessity) and a few new HTML pages -- we are going to be getting HTTPS very soon.

If there are any issues with the forum, things you want improved, fixed, broken links, missing references, etc PM me! AFAIK everything is in perfect working order.  However, things will seem slow for a bit due to uploading other files, changing the IP to a dedicated one, and getting HTTPS.

And yes.. I will spellcheck and get the front HTML pages working, and adjust the logo -- or get a newer better one, so it fits this forums theme. Things will be a lot nicer around here pretty soon but I am exhausted and I will try to get on less important things later.
went to bed at 8AM today....  :'(

Now the HTTPS is working, but it has a temporary site -- it takes anywhere from 4 to 48 hours to get everything working properly... so there is a chance, since the url is different, and might change again, along with the IP address that the site, especially the forum, will have some issues in the next few hours... I'll keep an eye on it as much as I can but it might go down temporarily for a few hours...maybe

There is a problem at the moment, but it will probably go away after it is done -- the forum, when linked from to the first page has some issues and tries to link to a page with "~thevespi" in the url, but if this is https it seems to work fine... just confusing and tricky to work with right now.

*edit.. well somehow I got it to work fine.. either way, I think you'll be able to figure out the problem or already know the problem so just keep up the work.
I seem to be the only one logged in, am I the only one who can figure it out? :P

Yeah, it should be getting better, I think I need to change a little bit more -- but I'll do that later tonight when I can get on a computer that I trust. But, atm it seems to not have any issues -- but if it does, let me know!

I do not know what the screwy scrolling backwards issue was, however -- when I am on a secure computer, I will fix the emoticons, and buttons in the reply section -- I believe I know the exact problem and should be an easy fix.

As for the war on drugs thing, and basically all of the HTML webpage content-- it needs to be re-written and made a bit better.
Than, I would like to find a drug reform movement that I agree with -- If I do not find one, I may give my hand at it. Though, I shouldn't get to caught up in things. :)

The layout of the front page has given me the idea of having all members create a blog detailing the dangers and expense of the WOD. Or at the very lest allow writeups of the nature to go thru a screening process before public display because to be completely honest some of yalls rants on the WOD in public could setback the process instead of moving it forward :)

Taking my ideas, are you?

Just kidding, but that is almost exactly what I am planning on doing - of course, it will have no relation to this site, other than this site will link to it on its front page.
I wanted a website that was pro-liberty, but it didn't really have a direction.. so I made this scribble junk:
http://www.organizeliberty.org/main/index.php

When I am not so busy dealing with this site, and other things, I am going to work on organizeliberty --- its changing its direction from where it is now... but in the end, it will be a mostly pro-liberty, end the war on drugs, states rights sort of site.

Lately, I've been doing a bit of research on community organizing and that jazz and I feel that I have some good ideas (who knows!?) and hopefully I can make a difference.

The idea with the drupal system is that writers can join, post content, and than admins, and mods can approve it, edit it, and so on. The forum there would be for getting ideas, what sort of content the site wants, and just going on about things -- than, the wiki, I want to work to report corruption and actual well referenced examples of how horrible the war on drugs is, who is against it, who is for it, etc. I've of course, have a lot of deleting of parts of the site, and tons of work to do. But yes.. that is the general idea.

Drupal, YUCK:|

Where is the FTP? I've set up over at comeze.com at the moment (trying to get the website to play nice), it has free PHP/MySQL hosting so it is a good sandpit (XAMMP is giving me the shits, it is good, but I have several sites on this machine (already) and trying to keep logo.png sorted on local host is a biatch...:D

Nice work so far. I know how much headache it can be to move a large site between hosts. I hope you have a mutually satisfactory relationship with your new web host for a long time to come.

Thank you. I hope it will all work out, and I think it will. Everything has been going great so far --  everything is up and running as it should be - forum works, is secure, google doesn't follow or index this site anymore, and all that I can remember that needs to be changed is to just modify the HTML pages a bit and upload some of the files that the members have added via FTP in a password protected directory.

Yes, the related topics is something that came as a nice bonus with the theme. I hope that will make things easier to find leading to fewer double posts, etc.

Yeah - no particular reason - the hosting company probably was just doing general repairs or something.
