Intro!
« on: September 22, 2010, 09:56:02 PM »
Hi Everyone. I'm so glad I found this site! You all seem like a really friendly, knowledgeable, active community. I have been lurking on these forums for a while now and have resisted posting mainly for the lack of anything useful to contribute, but I decide I may as well make an introduction. I'm 17 at the moment and have been interested in Chemistry for the last number of years (mainly high explosives!). I have recently started assembling my "phenethylamine research lab" and things are going well. Hopefully I'll bee able to get some practical experience soon and start contributing to this site.

Oh I have also recently "acquired" journal access so I would be glad to provide any articles any bee would like. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

BTW I have attached a nice article I found today giving a general introduction to phenethylamine.More than likely nothing in it will be new to any of you bee's but it is a good summary of the history and basic chemistry. I'll remove it ASAP if I'm wasting the sites bandwidth.

Nice intro! I like the addition of the articles to intros - maybe that should be a new tradition? :D

I wish you the best of luck with learning and applying chemistry. Let me know if you need any help around this site, or have questions or comments.

I like the article and the idea of posting one on intro too.

Welcome, this is a great site especially if your interest in chemistry is broad.

Check out the September reference thread http://127.0.0.1/talk/index.php/topic,1367.msg15193/topicseen.html that is where folks post what they are looking for in journal articles and it has the format for requests there too.  I'm sure Java & co would appreciate your help in retrieving articles.

I'll posthumously post an article I found last night - I've been working with Ephedra Sinica and it has a bunch of different alkaloids so I'm trying to build a matrix of various solubilities and came across this one on norephedrine.

He won't actually be able to see this because you need 10 posts in order to see the reference section.
But I am sure you will get there soon enough. :)

Beutiful sentence! You just wrote down the same description what I should have wrote down couple of years ago from myself ;)

I hope that you will have great success! And mainly a lot success with your PEA research lab!

I would just like to thank everyone again for the warm welcome! Hopefully I can contribute. Also I work part-time as a web developer so if anyone has any issues in that area, I would be glad to assist in any way I can!

Interesting...What sort of web-developing? HTML, PHP/MySQL, graphics, animations, flash, java? etc? Sometimes website projects come up so that is good to know.

Excellent. custom PHP/MySQL sounds like it would be a pretty good talent to have!
Do you make much money at it, if you don't mind me asking?

I haven't been doing much freelance work lately tbh. I have been working since I was 14 with a web marketing company doing technical stuff they have to do. During school I usually do about 6 hours a week from home for about $60 a week. So its easy work and handy pocket money to start investing in a lab :)
