the item ranges from nearly 700 dollars to 1200 dollars depending on which item. I think the ability to print whatever shape of plastic you want is pretty cool so I figured I'd share it. I don't think it would have many uses for us though -- not until it can print borosilicate glass!  (just kidding, that would need to cure in a kiln and all that other jazz before it were safe. but eh)

Iv seen those in action, the printing time for a decent part is like 24 hours.  Couple that with the hard ass calibration and programming and you are way better off buying/making a cnc machine.  Iv cranked out all kinds of lab devices by cutting plexi/HDPE with a cnc router.

Oh that is to bad they suck. I pretty much saw that coming though.
Interesting, what sort of lab devices have you made on a CNC?

I have always wanted too see some sort of metal adapter that can connect a 24/40 joint to metal with a standard taper on it.
I think that could have some serious use -- once the serious issues of thermal expansion differences were over came...

A RepRap can be built for about $400, the electronics are about $200.

This is a pretty cool idea, I would be shocked if in a few years these were not more popular.
It seems like they are working on making it so most of the electronics of it can also be built and replicated, as well as the plastic parts, and all out of very common materials or garabage.
I'm not sure what I would want custom made out of plastic, but if I had one of these and a few milk bottles I'm sure it would not take much to figure it out.

I'm glad to see they print using HDPE! That also makes me think PP would work -- which is great for printing off reusable petri dishes, culture tubes,  etc etc. :D Hardly worth the time, but I would do it vs wait for shipping and the cost of them as compared to just finding PP junk and melting it down.
