The site now looks like someone has pulled the plug out of the grand canyon , let all the water out and then had a piss in the space ........ and then given it a sex change ......

Theres more space than content . The "style" is now more prominent than the posts . Between the user name and the posting space there is enough space to build a 6 lane highway . One the sides of the frame we have a 1.5 cm space on each side . The post icons are now massive as if for a blind person BUT the print and posting space has got smaller . Above the buttons at the top between the date there is a big space ........ same under the search box ....... but at least the forum makers advert at the bottom of the page is more prominent ......

Has sopmeone been takeing drugs ?

Why ? With PHPBB its as easy as copying a file to the FTP server and then the users can choose their own style ....... and you still keep your moderation posibilitys ...... and i dont have to sit with my arse against the wall ......

At least the thing you said about makeing the fonts bigger works but now the fuckers look ------- L - O - N - L - Y ....... theres so much space i can hear an echo when i hit the keys .......

I have a nasty feeling my eyes are getting a bit worse, well, the one that copped a load of hot alcohol/NaOH/a certain cyclic ester that went from being de-cyclized, to erupting in my face, when I was quite a bit younger, the new font I find doesn't look blurry to me.

Think it is worth messing with and getting a new theme though?

Vesp ...... i dont understand that . Its probably a five minute job and very easy .  Either a new theme or change this one .. Probably the second option would be the best because then you and i and all the other people with good taste would be satisfyed .

AS for people giveing opinions ....... usualy most people are to scared to do it and are spending most of their time trying to not make waves and to look cool ........ political correctness .......... = oine could shit in most peoples mouths and they would say thank you ...........

If you / someone asked on nthe makers forum they should be able to tell them how to move things around a little so that the space is used better .  With my forum it was a matter of doing somne very small changes to one or at the most a few files each time .  Just down load the files to be changed make a copy of them change the copy uplad it and if its crap put the original back in . First make a full site copy throught the control panel and another through the FTP server and you cant get fucked . Then turn thr site off for two to ten minutes depending if the changes work or if they cause a fuck up = were done wrong  . That turn off could be done when the site is least used or with a site anouncement  .
Haveing a site copy running on a home computer useing xamp one can test things over and over to see what happens and without breaking rule number one = Never do changes on a running sysztem . That xamp copy can be copyed and every time one fucks up the original is deleted and the copy copyed back into xamp . All that ensures safety and takes a few minutes . The hardest part is getting xamp in the first time and that isnt hard .

The bevefits of a second running system are BIG .

I agree with that to . Those bricks ........ ( do they show how thick as a brick the memebr is ? ) could easily be changed for stars just by copying the stars into the same diectory and re nameing them ........ probably / maybe ? The same with the post icons <--------- or maybe thats just one change in a css file ...... like changeing something fro 15 to 10 ....... ?

The same with the new penal / penile ? system ..... is it a guantanamo bay thing or do we get to know when we have sinned ? What about a system of good points that we can exchange sometime for a very usefull set of  blinkin glitzy flashy neon plastic garden gnome ornaments to mount on  our bikes handlebars .........

It sounds to me like people are worried about the wrong things here. I don't really care what the forum looks like. Matter of fact I liked it best when it was black sometime back but it don't matter to me either way.

What does matter is content and lately all that been posted is off topic ramblings and generally poor threads with the exception of a few like some of the toad gods recent post and Aniracetams. The Signal to noise ratio is getting a little to lopsided for my and many others liking.

Point being forget what the forum looks like, its nothing more then a skin for the content within. If we worry more about the content instead of the look it will be a great forum no matter what. Lets try to get more experiments going even if its not drug related. Basic chemistry is no doubt welcome here so even simple experiments you might not deem important can really enhance the site.

Shake your post in the past few days have impressed me I must admit.

I think if someone is just starting out, be upfront about it, Redeemed is a prime example of this. If someone is unable to post synthesis of complex subjects then do some simpler ones that even if they seem mundane the community can still gather a lot of useful information from them.

Simple inorganic reactions would be great, Do good write ups showing precipitation reactions of copper sulfate solutions with Zinc and explain the theory behind it along with the molar weights of the reactants, or create write ups of the common ion effect...ect...ect.. basic but useful stuff.

Its seemingly simple things like this that can take the forum to a whole new level by making us a chemistry forum where your allowed to speak about drug synthesis instead of just having a drug forum where every now and then someone talks about basic chemistry.  That type of forum always heads down hill way to quickly until its nothing more then a bunch of rambling Meth heads talking out there ass and allowing there egos to overrun there judgement.

Personally I want to start developing a thread on reagent test to enhance home chemist ability to analyze a reaction better. This is by far the most important part of home chemistry. Its not the chemist ability to follow a synthesis like the wacker writeups that makes them a chemist its the ability to do an entirely new reaction and still identify what happened and the products contained.

I don't think there will be many more of those low quality and rambling posts. The quality will only increase from here on out I do believe. 
Simply due to the fact that all the moderators can ban people, delete their accounts, give them non-depreciating warnings which eventually lead to muting of a member, and when they are warned twice the members are put on a watch list - so they'll end up getting more scrutiny/attention than they would otherwise.
That is opposed to having only one person who could ban/delete members in the past; me - and I am pretty nice for the most part and try to, perhaps foolishly, talk to the members and try to get them to calm down so I don't need to take actions of banning people.


Additionally, I got some really good advice from Enkidu and I am going to be applying some of it in the next little while. This should lead to even better content/forum moderation.

    sounds logical and useful, as often many of the compounds made, are in themselves 'learning/practice'

Thats the way to go . Instead of reacting in a way thats just as bad as the things we dont like from others we should be standing above it and be like a parent with kids that arent preforming in the way we want . We dont wave the big stick at them , bitch at them or wank our puny little wounded egosd in their faces ..... we look inside ourselves and try to react in a way that will get the results we want . Or do we want to prove in public that we are just as bad or worse than the people who we think didnt get it right ?
