THC degrades primarily into CBN. Nothing else to add here, just wanted to clarify that.
This never really happens, but an eye still see's these things. It keeps happening. You just don't see it.

So I tested for solubility,

water : nothing went into solution
ethanol/acetone mix: everything dissolved
1,2-dichloroethane : dissolved, few clumps remained
hexane : dissolved
chloroform : dissolved

I don't have means to check for melting point, but when heated on a metal plate it started to boil and then vaporize producing sweet, almost caramel like odor. Almost like burned sugar, but not foul, it was pleasantly sweet, reminded a little of raw opium burning.

I have seen those crystals in the oil before too.

I just put it down to it being the sugars in the plant crystallizing out of the oil.

SwIms method of evaporating the IPA out of the oil solution is to place the clear glass oven tray over a 400 watt Metal halide floodlight.
The heat evaporates the IPA off & at the same time the green chlorophyll uses the light to turn itself into various sugars.
After its turned a light brown (from a real dark yellow/green colour) & the solution is down to a almost 95% oil, swIm adds hot water & simmers it for a while.

The 'guess' is that the hot water soaks up the sugars.

Then the hot water/oil is left to cool down, then put in a fridge to cool down to 0+ degrees & the water is poured off & the left over water is wicked out using a paper towel untill its all dry.

Then the oils dissolved in a minimum of  IPA again, dried, & evaporated off to leave some really really nice gold oil.
