Living in a land downunder, I smile as I pay through the fuckin nose for a prepaid wireless connection at around $50 for 4gb up or down, expires after 30 days--
The wireless gig aint bad. for general browsing, although it can get slowish with proxies..
It's not really the go for downloading large amounts of anything-the speeds are ok, its just expensive,
A landline now works out to be about $120 for 200gb- per month, 100gb in off peak periods only on a 12 month contract, there are cheaper packages, but these guys sign you into a 12 month contract, an three days later your watching TV only to see you telco's new ad for their winter "snuggle 'n speak" package, which is 40% cheaper than what you agreed to pay (for 12 fuckin Months!) a few days ago...grrr fuckin bastards grrr fuck....gr hmm cunts ah well wtf cant change it, might as well enjoy whats there, the grass is always greener, after all, and all that
I actually feel that most of the time I've been getting a reasonable deal, all things considered, but although the costs for landlines has halved, in the last year, wireless prices have stayed the same,
I guess because the recent explosion in smartphone use forces people to use these services and the telcos are sucking folks as hard as they can
I accept that the high prices we pay, are partially due to infrastructure costs spanning the huge distances with a fairly small population, 10 years ago it as still pretty shit but its getting better all the time, its not so much connection quality anymore, but cost, so
"how is it for you?" are you happy with your connections, and what are you paying, how much for what?
I'm really interested to hear what other members, in different countries, and even different states, are paying
