Re: Star maps

Wandering around reading some astrological shit I came across these mind blowing star maps which put the size of the observable universe into some kind of perspective...kinda!  Amazing

I have often considered the micro/macrocosmic aspects of this extraordinary place the universe and wonder if things like 'solar systems' are just 'molecules' in another dimension and vice versa?

And I learned a little about 3 dwarf planets that had been found in our solar system!
Makemake, Haumea and Eris. I had never heard of about them, has anyone else?

this one has no moons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makemake_%28dwarf_planet%29

this one is the biggest and has one moon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eris_%28dwarf_planet%29 of the 3

this one has two moons and a strange shape http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haumea_%28dwarf_planet%29

what I found surprising is that all of them are bright enough they can (apparently) be seen with a high quality 'amateur' telescope, and yet were all only discovered since 2004 with large  telescopes like the ones at the Mount Palomar Observatory
