a warning word about PMA
« on: August 10, 2012, 05:32:46 AM »
hey folks,
i have synthed once PMA from the corresponding nitrostyrene out of fascination and because i had everything available for it.
So i took out of stupidity 70mg and supplied it with another 30mg, it wasnt a lot of effects feelable, but the next day after some hard to get sleep, it got quite horrible.
I felt some very hot heat coming up in the back of my head the whole day, and it got even worse in the afternoon after i had a few beer.
I can relate some people shaved of their hair while on it, it is a really intense hard to bear heat, i dont know why anybody would take this shit on purpose...
really neurotoxic, gave it all away to a friend who collected obscure psychedelic substances then after just one experience :o

Yeh that definitely sounds like total shit.  ;D

Are there any documented positive effects from this stuff?

Did you bioassay p-methylamphetamine or p-methoxyamphetamine?

Both PMA and P-Me-A are well known to bee highly dangerous. PMA doesn't carry the street name 'flatliners' for no reason. It has on numerous occasions turned up in MDMA pills, and offed people as a result.

PMeA is worse, from everything Toady hears. IIRC its been used in russia a bit, and caused some serious and enduring cognitive and emotional deficits afterwards. He would sooner bioassay PMA than PMeA, the latter is just pure fucking evil stuff from everything he reads of it, with a tox profile that is pretty scary.

PMEA -- para-methoxyethamphetamine -- is supposedly rather nice. My understanding of PMA, though, was that people who took it got crazy trippy feelings and serotonin syndrome, not just a headache the next day! Are you sure you took PMA?

Also, typically para-methoxyamphetamine is PMA, a la PCA, and 4-methylamphetamine is 4-MA, in keeping with 4-MC and 4-MMC. As to why, I haven't the faintest clue...

I havent talked about a headache, there was no pain at all involved. just this intense nasty heat, and only in my head which could correlate with the symptoms of a serotonine syndrome, im not familiar with this syndrome.
and yes, it was PMA indeed.

I think it was actually posted on here somewhere about PMeA. The results observed were quite horrifying. If it wasn't here, it was on bluelight; so UTFSE for para-methylamphetamine.

As the Elder Toad sayeth, long-lasting mental and psychological damage were observed.
STAY AWAY from PMeA. It is DANGEROUS. Probably not anywhere near as dangerous as PCA/PBA/PIA as a neurotoxin, but it appears to bee quite neurotoxic.

Para-monosubstituted amphetamines in general are toxic in various ways, all of them seem to be nasty.    Para-haloamphetamines are well known examples of this, as are para-methyl and 4-MeOamphetamine. Likewise the cathinones.

Further ring substitutiosn is needed to abolish the toxicitys inherent in most para-substitutesd amphetamines/cats,

4-methylthioamphetamine is apparently NOT neurotoxic, but it comes with the additional problem of being an MAOI, which leads to serotonin syndrome.

Symptoms of 5-HT syndrome include skyrocketing temperature, whilst at times feeling freezing deathly cold. Severe muscular rigidity and twitching, this can in severe cases lead to , where the muscles break down and the toxic byproducts flood the kidneys  and shut them down. Also, agonizing severe headache is almost always present.

If Serotonin syndrome is suspected, do NOT attempt to wait it out at home, this could prove fatal. Call the ambulance and make sure they know what the problem is. Dantrolene is the usual treatment, ts a ryanodine receptor antagonist IIRC.

Cyproheptadine is likely to help, but nevertheless, call a fucking ambulance.

Likewise, pizotifen might be of use, both have been investigated for treatment of serotonin syndrome.
