Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Is this plant easy to get, and do you know the concentrations this potential cannabinoid is in the plant? I don't think any study so far has been conducted on if it is or isnt psychoactive, at least I can't find any confirmation of it being or not being psychoactive, of course I only looked for a little bit so the answer might be out there.

Might be a good idea to see if the mentioned plant has any uses or historical uses as an analgesic, sedative, etc.

I have done a bit of tramping in Fiordland park & have seen it quite a bit.

Its normally in Very wet areas, along with Spagnum moss & stuff.
Its very moist, if you stand on it it turns almost to water, looks very like seaweed.
Standing on it almost guarantees that your foot will slip off.
It forms mostly along the sides of fallen trees & rocks etc.
Will soak thru clothing quickly if you sit on it by accident.

I'm guessing, but I think its 4% of the plant, could be 0.4% if my maths are wrong.. And I don't know if thats the dry weight of the plant or not.

Apparently theres another plant, called 'Supplejack', that has safrole in its bark.
So I have some looking to do...

two plants seem to go by supplejack - Berchemia scandens, and Ventilago viminalis, do you know which one it may be?

Interesting have you tried the cannabinoid containg plant?

I have attached the paper for safe keeping as to make sure all things are hosted here to prevent lose.

This is very cool finding. I have not done anything but skimmed the paper as of yet but does anyone off there head know the concentration of the cannabinoid? I will look on Chem-spider later and see if I can find and Bio-Assays for this compound to determine if its active. If not im sure some of the chemistry gurus here could help to pop that dirty little phenyl group off. I have seen Liverwort plants here in the US as well and just as stated in areas with spagnum moss and very wet areas. But when found it is abundant so if active collecting enough should pose no problem.

PS: A paper on cannabinoid containing plants that includes Echinacea. I was unaware that Echinacea was in possesion of CBs.

Wow very interesting, I know where some echinacea plants are growing, but I too was unaware of the cannabinoids they have. It doesn't seem they are the typical THC shape. I have the pictures of what I believe to be them attached below, found on this site:http://www.ergogenics.org/supplement5.html
Also interesting about echinacea: http://www.jbc.org/cgi/content/abstract/281/20/14192

Echinacea also contains caffeic acid related compounds. Just as a side note, caffeic acid looks really useful.
