Toady just had the same issue connecting with TOR, due to the IP address for the session in question being banned.
Sneak, could you provide a link to the post(s) you cite please?

I dont understand why the mods would ban IPs when when all use Tor. Ive been on a total of about 15 minutes today and had to renew my identity 7 times. Im not coming here without Tor, this sucks.

We the Admin & Mods haven't blocked ANY TOR IP exit nodes, the site host has upgraded its security. We are currently discussing this to resolve the issue?

Until we resolve this issue with TOR proxies, you can configure your web browser to use an Anonymous Proxy, or Elite proxy (high anonymity) proxy server.
What is an anonymous proxy server?
Anonymous proxy does not transfer the information about the IP-address of its user, and thus effectively hide the information about you and your surfing interests. In addition, some proxies (the so-called elite proxies) can also hide the fact that a user surfing through a proxy server. So there are two types of anonymous proxies (see below).
Anonymous Proxy server does not send HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR variable to host, this improves privacy since your IP address cannot be logged.
Elite proxy (high anonymity) does not send HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR, HTTP_VIA and HTTP_PROXY_CONNECTION variables. Host doesn't even know you are using proxy server and of course it doesn't know your IP address.

Proxy selection details - with SSL support, connection latency: less than 3 second(s), reliability: more than 75 per cent, sorted by reliability column, descending.

Search Google for more proxies via "proxy list"

Right on, a wealth of information in regards to computer and network security, just like always. Thanks WizX, you are indeed the man.

Obviously to maintain your anonymity you should use these proxies through Tor. There is no guarantee these proxy servers will not log your IP or turn it over to LEO's. If people are having trouble I would recommend you connect to a web based proxy using your Tor connection. That should allow you to connect successfully and safely.

Be advised that proxy chaining (YOUR PC <==> Tor proxy <==> Anonymous Proxy, or High Anonymity proxy <==> www.thevespiary.org
THIS WILL INCREASE connection latency AND DECREASE reliability to the vespiary server, and place more load on the server.
There is no guarantee either, that the TOR proxy network CAN NOT BE COMPROMISED?

I was also under the impression that using a proxy with Tor did not increase anonymity in the least, but I'm not a networking guru like WizX. Though I have heard many folks that do know more than I say running a proxy in addition to Tor can only make things work less reliably and provide more points of failure.

Using a proxy does not increase the anonymity of Tor, it's simply a solution to avoided the blanket banning of Tor exit node IP's on some forums. The extra step will increase your latency somewhat but its better than not being able to access thevespiary.org at all directly with Tor.
WizardX, no there is no guarantee the Tor network cannot be attacked, but it has be tested very extensively and you can be sure that if a nation state does successfully compromise the anonymity of Tor it would not be used against any of the members here. We are simply not worth it to disclose something as major as that.
Happy new year everyone

Why not move the forum to an anonymous server overseas that allows tor. I'd help fund....

If it could be done through bitcoin or another anonymous payment thing I would be willing to contribute as well.

Didn't change anything. I wasn't sure how to approach it, so I ignored it.
