I have seen Java repeatedly request that folks color there entire post Blue when submitting a request to make his job of fulfilling request easier. Since he is not required by us to find these papers I suggest you all start performing this action since he does this out of the kindness of his heart the lest ya'll can do it color it blue.

Thank you for your time

How to name uploaded refs
« Reply #21 on: May 09, 2010, 02:50:19 AM »
I just uploaded another ref and noticed that we still don't have a standard. For the good of all, can we take a little bit to make a suggested standardized naming system for uploaded journal refs?

I suggest, as others have said before, DOI first if available, journal&#'s, title and authors. Do we put title or authors first? Yes this is a long name. This should make it easier to spot redundancy and speed searching.

If we set a good example here, perhaps we can turn the tide at some of the other spots as well.

So what is the consensus?

When I name a reference, I generally do so using the Author Surnames separated by ".", then the words of the Title (in entirety if possible) straight after, separated by "." too... I prefer that, it makes it a fucking shitload easier when you have several hundred articles and you are trying to organise them. It is possible to recall the majority of "Author/Title" combos (or even check the ones that look right, it is impossible to recall citations.

Like Sedit I would also use the copied filename to identify the document.
