What's up?  I was invited by SEDIT.  I've been a hive bee without a home for several years.  I got hooked on chemistry and pharmacology at a tender age working in my Dad's pharmacy.  I guess my path was sort of chosen for me ;-).  I see lots of old names around here.  Regardless, I am excited at the prospect of participating at this site.  I haven't even looked around but from the quality of bees I see around here I can tell I will bee pleasantly surprised!!!  Here's to hoping we can all learn a little from each other!!!

Survived that waterfall, did you?  Glad to hear of it. I'll tell Watson you survived it, although that will likely make him take to carrying his old service revolver in his pocket again.

You probably need to post about your latest refinements to the art of letting things distill as you sleep, then we can settle back and enjoy some of that seven percent solution.
 

Great to see you here!  I know the philosophical quandry you wrestle with in deciding whether to join a group that would have me as a member.  Rest assured they've given me a short chain to run on, even if it is by the front door.

Thanks for the invite all.  Geez!  What's up my friend?  Good to see you are out there.  I guess I need to send you a PM and as for posting, I'm told posting any refinements I might have stumbled upon might bee a good idea.  Well, I'll have to take you up on that although but think my findings are not dissimilar to those of many others.  I am just upon the cusp of beeing superfluous  ;).  Good to hear from you old friend and expect a PM in the next day or two.

Lmfao no kidding... though, that would explain a lot. Madhatter likes to make crappy jokes like that, and ask silly questions in a lot of different ways. Don't mind him :D

I'm pretty sure your experimentation will be appreciated by at least 98% of us! There are just a few, or something close to that value that get a little friggity about a few things for some reason. Probably just out of habit more then anything.

On the cusp of superfluosity? What a point to be in spacetime. I think there is a book to be written on the philosophical implications of the quest to be on that particular cusp, and the Zen involved in recognizing where it is and where you are within it. This of course provides a location for commentary about our times and social order.

Then again, it may indicate we all need another beer.

I see this as my time learning chemistry, and we can be serious, and straight to the point, we can discuss math formulas, problems with our equations and this is fine, but why frown on light hearted humor? I rather be seen as the fool who became someone smart, than the person who become a fool.

Though I understand how this forum isn't the place for DEA jokes. Its just a bad habit with my name. I'll cut back on those. Though I have my NaCN coming today, I can't wait to see what it tastes like. Can I get high from it?

Yes, both capuchin monkeys in South America and lemurs in Madagascar have learned how to get high off of passing insects. Apparently, several species of millipedes squirt out a poisonous compound when agitated. By covering themselves with the poison, lemurs and monkeys are able to ward off parasitic insects and get a delightful narcotic buzz.

Unfortunately, millipede venom is also filled with cyanide, which is deadly to pretty much everything. Of course the risk of agonizing death has never stopped anyone from getting high, so the capuchins (one of mankind's closest relatives) gather in huge groups and swap hits of 'pede. It's like a frat party, but with slightly more flinging of feces.

The millipede Pachydesmus crassicutis (Wood) secretes a mixture of benzaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide when it is disturbed. So it can lay its larvae in the victim, and it can eat it alive from the inside out!

Now it's only a matter of time before someone suggests using these bugs as a source for cyanide salts and benzaldehyde. Amphetamine from bugs, just imagine the scare ads for that.
