This a way use the spent cakes or bulk substrates that will no longer fruit. A great way to squeeze out the last little bit of actives out of your projects.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
1. Dry Mycelium material or mushroom material, doesnt matter
2. Something to grind it up with (magic bullet, coffee grinder, etc.)
3. Methanol (paint section of hardware store)
4. Glass containers big enough for whatever size job you are gonna be doing
5. Filters (coffee filters or filter paper)
6. Funnel
7. Large bucket or bowl for the hot water bath
Method
1. Grind up dried mushroom or mycelium material to fine powder
2. Combine mushroom powder to methanol in proportions of 10mL methanol for every 100mg mushroom powder.
3. Place container with mushroom methanol slurry in hot water bath for 4 hours
4. Filter slurry, save the solids for next extraction, and save the liquid in separate container.
5. Add fresh methanol to solid portion and place in hot water bath for 4 hours.
6. Repeat filtration and extraction once more, for a total of 3 volumes of liquid methonal. You may now discard the solid material.
7. In an open container evaporate liquid to total dryness using the hot water bath. End product after evaporation is psilocybin extract.
This extracted material should contain 25-50 percent psilocybin and psilocin. Every 100 grams of dried mycelium/mushroom tissue should yield about 2 grams of this psilocybin/psilocin residue, which will contain a total of 500mg of psilocybin/psilocin or approximately fifty 10mg doses. This means that a good dose of this residue is about 40 mg of residue.
