Improvised Equiptment Thread
« on: November 29, 2009, 07:57:29 AM »
All right - so I know not all of us want to do a write up on how they improvised various things they use around the lab, but I thought it would be maybe a good idea to have a thread to post pictures of improvised lab equipment, as it will give some people ideas, and might contribute to the forum a fair amount, and create interesting discussion...

Currently, I do not have any pictures of my improvised stuff, and probably won't for a while, any of you got some?
magnetic stirrers, flasks, etc?

okey dokey, thought this section could use some company. first pic is a set of Pb electrodes and a laptop psu(15-24V @ 3.5A), note the different colours of the connector pins. (a ps2 psu puts out 8.5V @ 5.65A, perhaps a better choice) the piece of wood is covered in a piece of Al foil before casting. next, a vibration motor from an old ps2 controller with a glass tube on the end which was sealed and bent, wired to a 12V 1A dc psu. nice clean copper can be effectively joined together using lead.
