I was just wondering if anyone knows if dried sassafras officinale root bark is
 watched in the UK. (Just to clarify, this is not being posted internationalaly)
what is the likelyhood of 1) the purchase being monitored 2) the package
being opened.

Is possetion of sassafras bark illegal? Obviously, with intent to manufcature; sure.
but the raw bark as it stands?

Doubt that ordering the root bark would be a practical source of safrole. I doubt even more anyones going to waste resources looking into who's purchasing it. Worst comes to worst and you want a safety net possibly try getting some old school rootbeer brewing, then if anyone comes a knockin' asking about it give them a bottle. They sell the sassafrass root at my local brew shop for that very purpose.
