Discussion of "Possible biosynthesis of D-lysergic acid diethylamide-like..."
« on: January 17, 2010, 02:09:48 AM »
This thread is for Sedit who wants to discuss the merits of a paper I currently have on request in the wanted references thread.

I am withholding my judgment until I see the full paper, but will concede that a one-page long paper is going to have to make quite an impressive argument to be convincing.

Id have to say the paper will speak of LSD like behavious in tryptamine substances such as DMT and what not but I guess time will tell. Ill get a better responce later or tommorow but am extemely busy at the moment.

One page BTW...... Not to be a sadist but you understand.... I have a rought time wipingmy ass with only one sheet  ;D

The discussion in the paper seems plausible, but not nearly so useful as I was hoping it might be.

I had hoped a bit more insight might have been provided into the possible form of the conjectured active compound to look for ways to improve upon it.

N,N-dimethyl derivatives of mescaline are known to be inactive, so diethyl derivatives likely are as well.  I dont know if amide derivatives have ever been explored.  If the author's speculation that a complex is formed with tyrosine is correct, then it may be that mescaline's nitrogen becomes part of the lysergic acid ring structure, but this seems pretty unlikely to me given the varied activities of other substituted phenethylamines.

even if you could cyclize the amine on mescaline too an indole I find it unlikely that
you would get a full lysergic compound out of it with out some serious synthesis.

still I have been proven to be full of shit before (thanks sedit your right I was out of school with that one)

if your looking at biosynth I would be wondering how the ergot makes thouse rings first as they are quite
complex and very specific in configuration.

oh why all mighty green thing in the skies is there such a compound in the first place.

oh ye to burn us all at the stake with :)

sorry sedit bad post on SM
