Okay, I've made a few posts so far, figure it's time I said hi.
I'm badger. I wasn't part of the Hive; this is the first chemistry forum I've participated in, so if by some chance you know some other badger, it's not me.
My chemistry experience is pretty minimal; I had two years in high school but never pursued it beyond that. However I'm very interested in biochemistry and neurochemistry and at some point after you spend so much time looking at the pretty pictures you get to wondering how things are synthesized, and that's the point I'm at. I can balance equations like a champ but learning all the different categories of reactions, where they're useful, what properties are likely to make a given approach succeed or fail, etc is a very different order of business. Right now I'm working to improve my "book learning" -- working my way through Vogel but it's slow going. This isn't legos, that's for sure.
Apart from all that I'm generally interested in anything that brains do. I have an OpenEEG (though I haven't played with it much yet) and would love to have ready access to a PET scanner
but sadly I don't expect that access to that sort of gear will be in my future.
