Bath Jacks

Bigwhisky in thinking of oil baths is thinking of a lab jack just in case things go pear shaped. These things cost big bucks tho. With this in mind has anybody constructed one of these fuckers or have any ideas about them? Bigwhisky has been looking at car jacks and welding some plate onto it but just can't visualize it 100%.
thanks,

You would really only need a jack when using larger, say 10 liter, and up equipment where it is necessary to remove the heat source and change the boiler without disturbing the entire setup. This brings in a host of other headaches like supporting everything etc and is used in a more production type setup where the distillation/fractionation train is more extensive and requires a looong time to assemble.
For smaller setups blocking the bath works ok if you need to do this. |
