This caught my eye in the Baeyer/Villiger thread as a possible improvement to gassing at 0deg for hours. I sure wish somebody could correct the spelling in the title of that thread, it just bugs me.

I suppose I should run a couple test tube experiments. My quess is the AcOH is used as solvent and the H2SO4 I would try at 1,2.5 & 5% total weight with the GAA at equal volume to the benzaldehyde. Damn should do it tonight as my flea magnets just came in. Cool little suckers they fit a big test tube just perfect. and will spin a foot away. |
