Would fractional vacuum distilling 250ml of calamus oil with a ~300mm vigreux cause a good deal of column hold-up? If so, what would be a good chaser solvent?

No more than any other high boiling organic oil say 15-20ml. Solvent won't chase it anywhere but back were it came from. Perhaps you mean codistilling as a higher boiling azeotrope. Good luck finding one of these.

Just rinse the damn thing at the end making sure to pull the column off quickly so it doesn;t drain into the residue then put into the next batch. I suppose you could steam it also but that;s a big hassle for such a little bit.
