Thank you for using ZipLip’s free secure mail service. We appreciate your patronage and wish to inform you that we will be discontinuing our service on June 30th, 2005. For various reasons, including new U.S. legislation which significantly impacts the individual’s privacy rights, ZipLip is no longer able to provide its free secure email services with any reasonable assurance of privacy and security, particularly in the context of a hosted service. We will revisit the service issue when our legislature reinstates our privacy rights.

Does anyone know what those laws they're talking about are ? They are US federal so no bigger problem for me as a european, right ?
Which e.mail service would you advise now ?

| I have 2 ziplip accounts that seem to still be functioning properly (just checked), aside from them telling me I need to change my password every time I log in, which I gleefully ignore, and proceed right to my inbox. Personally, I was always a fan of disposable identity, so instead of having one uber-secure address that I keep forever, I have multiple free addresses which I toss out the window on a regular basis, and simply acquire new ones. Gmail is my preferred favorite right now, seeing as how they give you >2GB of space for storage, and it's a piece of cake to get a new account. |

When you get a Gmail account, you also get 50 invites to do with as you please. Get a hotmail account, send the invite to it, and you're free to create another Gmail account. You can do this as many times as needed.
Shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up with an account. |
