The secret to recubing crushed ice..?(for my soda pop!)

I ASSume this is the proper forum for this...HYPOTHETICALLY, assuming SWIYoM had a quantity of a substance in a rather crystalline, course powder form (about like suger, but slightly more course and more irredescant or prismatic) and wished to make it look pretty by causing it to form slightly larger crystals or "shards" how would one go about doing so? SWIM has been present for such an operation, but was otherwise occupied and took no notes at the time. But s/he seems to recall a pyrex dish, dH2O, a microwave and a freezer being involved...can anyone help w/ this?

re-x...
Find the appropriate re-x solvent for the substance you using and heat up the solvent, place the material in and let it cool slowly... The slower you let the solvent cool the bigger your crystals will be. Also dependant on the effectiveness of the solvent for the re-x of your particular material.

If swip remember's correctly, This same subject came up at the hive some while ago and swip thinks there was another chemical like liqued nitrogen or something like whats in those cans of freezzz spray that swip see's around.
So have a look around the hive archives and have a look, Swip remembers a while ago when there was a big but posted on the hive and it was mentioned they were using liqued nitrogen to obtain rocks the size of M & M's.

Cool...so where might swim be able to look up this rexizing solvent?...especially having utfse ALOT (it keeps giving the same posts to weed thru and none are it(so far))...just wondering if there is a relatively simple method (swim knows there is, having half-assed witnessed the 'before' and 'after' and been in the next room while the ~1hr proceedure transpired...this is purely for cosmetic purposes b/c dopers can be F**KIN IDOTS and stubborn, to boot...assuming it came str8 from distillation @ betty crocker's house, all that is needed is not to look so 'shaky' cuz you can't move anything to most of the wankers if they slightly suspect it to have been tampered with...Ironic Part:99% of em wouldn't know pure if it ambushed them in the jungle, pounded on them for a while, then tied them up and gave a 5 hour dissertation on itself...anyhow whatever 411 NE one may/may not have on this would be splentasferoustic...

one may have heard that placing said small xtals into a flask and placing in freezer to chill, then spraying the neck of the flask with butane gas until enough liquid cold butane was formed to dissolve xtals, was a nice way to rextalise with not much hassle.

And now b4 getting to something that has never been discussed on this post or any other, either hypothetically, theoretically, or otherwise, but to clarify the contents of this post for posterity's sake, butane application direct to neck of flask freshly removed from freezer [not] containing [non-]granular substance, having occupied said compartment for no less than long enough to attain a level of coldness not quite present in oh, say a room temp object of same material, mass, density. (I know, I know - "Sleep @ least once a month." I've heard it b4, but the sad, fun truth is that i need no lack/presence of anything alien or unhealthy to talk/type like this...wheeeeeee!!)
So would that be the concave or convex face of the neck,, does it need to be a specific distance from/above/right at level of granulational mass within, and is there anything else that might prove helpful to one [certainly not!] performing such a flamably fun activity (did someone say 'fun'? Certainly they meant 'disgraceful'...)?
