I've just been looking at the "Tried and True Method". I'm fully aware its a bunk synth but it mentions obtaining ether from starter fluid by way of mixing 50/50 with water, shaking for 5min and separating top layer. Would this work?

ether isnt soluble in water so it would form an upper layer...
What else is in starter fluid? any other np would also seperate, more than likely they would all be short chain hydrocarbons so they would also migrate to an upper layer when the solution is saturated with water.
