hey does anyone know if VM & P NAPTHA goes under a different name in Australia? I cant seem to find it anywhere

Many Australian bees have been known to use Shellite in place of VM&P Naptha.

It is best to explain what you are using it for. Methylated Spirits (alcohol) is easily found. It is sold with a purple tinge to identify it. Kerosine (paraffin) is also available. The huts in the Mt Cook and Westland National Parks have stocks of Kerosene. Bluet gas is available in most camping shops, while the screw type gas cylinders can now be found. "Epigas" as Butane or as a Butane/Propane mix are in some camping shops.

Shellite is not xylene. They are totally different. Shellite is a simple hydrocarbin with a boiling point ~70C i think and Xylene (dimethylbenzene) is an aromatic hydrocarbon with a boiling point of ~120C i'm pretty sure. They are definately not the same xylene the better NP solvent as it pulls alot more than shellite will.
