l-tryptophan -> LSA? Bookmark
Looks interesting, is it possible?
http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_info5.shtml
has a very brief mention of it.

I have a recent journal article that has a synthesis for that route......it's about 10 pages long. It's a lot of work.

Phaidon, I haven't been able to find it online, but if you're able to log into the ACS website, then you might be able to find it in their database and archives. Any good university will have it. It's: J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1813-1819 (1984)
