although not one of the most emminent members i did have many flurries of activity on the hive as stratosphere, i have matured alot as a chemist and would like to think my posts have to.
but when the hive suddenly and unexpectantly dissappeared it was a big dissapointment, like chemistry itself had died, glad to see it alive and well agian.
props to you snythetica, creating this and the other associated web sites must have been a major undertaking.

Hello all ozbees, or is that ozsynthers now?
Well, since the hive went away I actually got my BSc in Chemistry.
(after many years of part time study)
Look what can happen when you don't spend your study time surfing forums like this. Or maybee all that time helped me with my studies - yes that it!
Looking forward to being a bit more constructive and helpfull to our community than I was at the hive.
See you all soon.
Rydalmere. |

Hey loki,
Hang in there mate. It takes time but its worth it at the end.
I bombed out at 1st year uni but went back later.
My high school was't noted for its academic excellence either, but I scraped through. Today the "competition" is tougher, and that's what it is a competition (nothing about education).
However, all the "smart dicks" do accounting or law - they are "dicks".
When I graduated, there were twelve pages of "business" graduates listed and half a page of science grads - "the clever country" - my ass.
At least science is fun - I mean that - and you will be valued in the future. (and you are valued here, now.) |

And loki,
When you do go to uni, pay your HECS up front if you can, they will find it harder to fail you, they need the cash. (Not saying that you might fail, just that your interests in study may not match theirs - but some of the lecturers interests are the same - suss them out).
When I was at uni, one lecturer in chemistry boasted about the gigabytes of films he "shared" on P2P networks - and he had a large bottle of ephedrine sitting on a shelf in his office - the only chemical he had in there - he was cool. |
